Launch Crew Qualification

The Pilot Launch Crew are responsible for the operations and general maintenance of launches and equipment, to ensure continuous availability for safe launch transfers. Crew assist pilots safely embarking and disembarking vessels. The launch comes alongside the vessel as the Pilot climbs or descends the pilot ladder. It is a challenging and rewarding role.

Launch Crew are required to have completed an Elements of Shipboard Safety Course, hold a current First Aid and CPR Certificate and driver's licence. A Coxswain requires a Master Class 5 certificate and Marine Engine Driver Grade 3.

Along with a sound knowledge of the maritime industry and its commercial practices, members require high level written and oral communication skills. A Pilot Launch crew member must have a full understanding of the company's work processes, developed to improve safety and productivity in the work place. Crew members require the ability to work as a member of a team and also as an individual. A good proficiency in computer and software applications is beneficial.
